Wow. I've been really bad at writing on here. I don't really have any excuses... Sean was a little sick this week (and wrote this), we're still on our way to buying a house, our apartment is particularly moldy, it's been raining, the Olympics are on... Really just stuff you'd expect.
A week ago tomorrow was our 2 year dating anniversary and we went to Red Lobster. It's a lot easier to celebrate that than to fight the hoards of people on Valentine's day itself. Plus it's a little more special for us. We are still going to do Valentine's gifts. I painted Sean a picture and he got me something from the internet. I think we might go to Five Guys or Rubio's or something just because. Other than that, Valentine's is a pretty normal day.
Our first Valentine's day... Whoo, it's a good story. I guess I was soooooooooo blinded by Sean's adorable-ness that I didn't realize it was a hilarious story and should've written it down here but I didn't.
It started out pretty great. I walked over to his apartment because I didn't have time/wrapping paper enough to wrap his Build-a-Bear which I cutely named Sean the Jedi and dressed as a Jedi. Plus he had to finish a few things with dinner. I got there, rang the bell, and then straight away gave him the bear when he opened the door. He handed me a cute bag with 3 awesome Beatles Mugs and a Batman magnet inside.
He pulled the steaks out of the oven and they were heart-shaped. AW. He also had potatoes in a casserole dish ready for eating. He dished it all up for us as I sat at the counter and admired the roses and candles he'd put out. The steak was super delicious, I remember because my first bite was much too big so I was chewing it forever while trying not to choke because Sean was laughing at me and I was laughing (as much as I could) too.
We finished eating and then went on a drive and ended up at Blickenstaff's Toy Store in Provo. We wandered around and then... Actually... I don't really remember what happened after that. I think we probably.. OH YEAH. We went back to our neighborhood and went to our friend Jayme's house to pick up my copy of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World she'd borrowed. Then we went back to Sean's and watched it.
It was really sweet. Like he always is. The funniest part of all of this, though, was that he spent about $200 on the whole night. "What?" you ask. Yes, he had to buy household items to have Valentine's day at home. He was offered reservations at a nice restaurant but turned them down because he didn't want to spend a ton of money on a girl he'd just started dating. HAH. Joke was on him. He bought plates and stools and food and flowers... What a guy.
Anyway, I still love him just as much as then and I'm so happy he's my forever Valentine.
I gotta go check if our bed is still wet from me stupidly putting the humidifier on it while vacuuming... bad idea.
I'll post a picture of my painting once I give it to him tomorrow. Squee!
love, Ellen

Day 9: Date
My dream date goes hand in hand with my dream vacation, essentially.
Sean and I would start out riding our bikes on the pier and lock them up near a fair. We'll eat funnel cakes and play fair games for a while as the sunsets and then we'll walk along the shore at dusk back to our bikes and ride back to our town house just down the pier.
Either that or...
We go to a park and play baseball for a while and then grab some food (sushi or pizza or burgers... whatever) and have a floor picnic in the living room and cuddle while watching a great movie surrounded in soft pillows and blankets in a nest.
I love spending time with my incredible husband and I'm so glad he's the one I get to spend forever with.
It's so stormy outside and I love it! I've still gotta do the dishes and clean the floors but It's still great weather and I get to see my fabulous mother-in-law today!
mmm... thunder rumble...
okay, I'm out.

May 31: Vivid
I remember nearly a year and a half ago, I had a HUGE crush on this guy. The night before, I had driven him to the local Subway to have dinner with a few of our friends. When I dropped him off outside his apartment, I casually asked him if he was going to our friend Jayme's to watch Land Before Time the next night. He said "Sure".
The next night, I showed up early with a backpack full of homework and high hopes. A couple people trickled in and then Sean knocked on the door. I opened it and let him in and freaked out a little (just in my head. On the outside, I was as cool as a cuke).
Eventually, we had the movie in and the popcorn ready. I had to kick this tall, awkward guy from the seat that was too wide to be a 1-person chair and too small to be a love-seat and then I sat down. Sean sauntered over and then he said something and sat down right next to me. SWOON. The movie started and not 3 minutes in, he had my hand in his and I was on the brink of peeing my pants from excitement (but still, on the outside, cool as a cuke).
We watched the movie (that, to be honest, I'd only seen at my granny's house while playing with Chevron cars) and chatted a bit afterwards. Everyone left and it was just me, Sean, and Jayme (and maybe Jayme's roommate Jamie, who I think had gone to bed by that point). Sean wondered what we were going to do next and I suggested we went back to his place and I'll finish up some homework while he worked on his book. My ploy to get him to fall for me was a success!
We wandered across the complex and up to his apartment and we went in. We sat down on his demon couch and I pulled out Walden by Henry David Thoreau and he pulled out his baby-sized laptop. After an awkward choke-hold-esque situation, we finally found a comfy position and went to work. That obviously didn't last long and we ended the night making out.
He walked me home and kissed me on my doorstep. SWOON. 5 months of dating, 3 months of engagement, and 8 months of marriage later, I swoon just as often. And tonight, we're probably going to buy groceries and I'll tell him I tried making kool-aid taffy but didn't have a candy thermometer, ran to get one, it broke when I pulled it out of the package, I still used what I could, and it still didn't turn out.
I hope the last day of your month turns out better than my kool-aid taffy.

May 21: High 5
My 5 favorite blog posts of mine:
- http://elleohellen.blogspot.com/2012/06/hbd-mom-also-music.html - I like this post because it's a birthday shout-out to my mom, it's got some of my favorite bands, and I predict my future.
- http://elleohellen.blogspot.com/2012/09/on-crying.html - I don't particularly know why I love this one. I just do.
- http://elleohellen.blogspot.com/2012/02/one-big-step.html - I like this one because I announce that Sean and I are dating. You can sense my nervous-but-excitedness.
- http://elleohellen.blogspot.com/2012/07/seans-got-new-carr.html - This one's kind of obvious because it's my engagement story. So sweet!
- http://elleohellen.blogspot.com/2012/12/things-that-will-forever-have-happened.html - This is my most favorite post because it's where I dish all the weird-o stuff that happened at my wedding and I really get a kick out of it every time I read it.
2 and a half more weeks until we go to Minnesota! I seriously can't wait. I've already created a packing list and we've got a cat-sitter lined up and some snacks picked out. So excited. Okay. I'm going to go watch more Arrested Development in preparation for Sunday. Yay!
Happy May 21!

just another new year blog.
This was the craziest year, let's be honest. It flew by and i'm all the better for it.
I think i'll go by month.
New Years last year i spent watching crappy music videos with old friends. Then, in January, I met the Donner boys (Brady and Sean) at a party I held for myself for my half birthday. We also hung out at a game of broom ball that same month (at which I met Jeremiah, their younger brother) and, because I liked them so much, i invited our entire ward to an after-party at Village Inn. Later that month, Sean and I started hanging out. Also, my second year of college started.
On February 7th, Sean sent out the ghost of Paul Revere to tell the world we were dating. The next week was Valentines. The best Valentines I've ever had because I spent it with Sean. That month, we continued dating. I gained a best friend and trusted accomplice.
March is a funny story. the beginning wasn't that much of interest... but Sean's birthday was on the 20th and we celebrated. The week after that, though, we went to Phoenix. It really was a terrible trip, his family will attest to it, but it's a great story now. Here's a rundown of it . So that i don't have to type it all out.
April. Sean and I exchanged mixes, went to the zoo and to our favorite place, the Dinosaur Museum. And Sean and I continued to fall in love (combined awwwww. and... go.)
May. We visited a meat parade, took a fun day-trip to Moab, and Abby had a birthday (shout hooray)
June. We saw Jay Mohr at Wiseguys and busted a gut, bought a record player, and I got some gnarly bruises from a children's playground toy, and went to a super rad Motion City Soundtrack concert with Brady and The Front Bottoms and The Henry Clay People opened for them.
July. the best month. We saw Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and saw some fireworks. On my birthday we saw Foster the People in concert. Sean bought a car (for realz). The next day, we drove it to the Dinosaur museum. We went in and Sean proposed to me in the starry tunnel after the kids stopped running around in it. Adorable. That day, we drove up to bountiful and to logan and all around to show off our new engagement. SO great. We set the date for October 5th. Also that month, i packed up to move, and picked out my dress.
In August, I moved out of my old apartment and into our cozy new apartment, picked out our invites, and school restarted. I was waving my ring finger about like it was nobody's business. Also, we had out engagement pictures done. And Sean started his new job at Adobe.
September. I had some bridal showers and got some awesome stuff. Sean and I took our first of 2 trips to Minnesota for his friends Marcus and Whitney's wedding. 2 entire days were spent just driving. It was fun and cute! We got our marriage licence while there, also. When we got home from our journey, we got a kitten. so cute and fun back then... less fight-y.
October was the biggest month. We drove so much back to Minnesota and got ready for the wedding. Our families met and we set up. We got married in the St. Paul, MN temple on the 5th, had our reception in the Mankato ward building and then we had our honey moon in Mankato and Keystone, South Dakota where we visited Mt. Rushmore and had fun. When we got back, we had a couple days to catch up on things and then we had another reception in Bountiful which was gorgeous and fun. It was a month to remember. Also, Halloween where we carved pumpkins and had candy and it was great.
November. I went to school, Sean went to work. Thanksgiving was tons of fun and delicious. it was really a relaxing month, just what we needed after october.
December flew by. We saw The Hobbit 3 times (our 4th was last night... so it doesn't count for December). I finished the semester of School and hung out at home for most of the break. We had some Christmas parties and stuff and i wrote an adorable blog about our wedding. For New Years, we went to Heber City and just enjoyed each others company instead of going to a party. boring.
I'm excited for 2013. It's gonna be fun. Sean's and my first entire year of being married. Yay! This year, we're hoping to move up to Davis County, start saving for a real house, and maybe visiting Phoenix again or somewhere. I'm excited.
Thanks for another year of listening to me ramble or whatnot.
love, ellen

Catch up and mustard?
yes, please. just kidding. it's a word play.
but no srsly. this is kinda just gonna be a catching up post. duh.
This has been a manic insanic week full of oddities and whatever. classes happened and i made some friends in my French class and work is a good time. but this weekend is probably what i want to focus on..
okay. so Friday i went to institute and that was good and will hopefully help me with my resolution i forgot to post on my resolutions post about being more spiritual. then i changed and went to work for a long time. then i came home and then went to dinner with my ward friends Bethany, Marcus, and Marcus's roommate Jason to cafe paesan. it was yummy.. i had a thai salad and i ate most of it!
Then Saturday, me and Jayme went and bought a bunch of party stuff and that night i had a batman half birthday party! basically i just wanted cake and to watch batman. and that's what i got! it was actually a lot a lot of fun. i met a bunch of people. Like this new guy in my ward and one of Jamie's (not to be confused with Jayme) friends Ethan and Annie's friend (who might be in our ward?) named BJ.
then sunday was normal except i found out that Chelsea Hightower's little brother just moved into our ward and she was at church with us except i missed like 2/3 of church for a fellowship meeting... eeks. But yeah! and uhm oh yeah there was this cute guy at ward prayer who i'm hoping is actually in our ward and not just a visitor... that'd be super sad. for me.
yesterday was MLKJr. day. So no classes or work. So i woke up and got ready and then went to Zupa's and Target with the aforementioned Ethan guy. it was good.. i bought a sweet new slap bracelet watch and some veg and ranch.. then we came back to my apartment and chatted for a while and then he left and i went to Walmart with Erin and her roomies and bought some muffins and pepperoni and a glade plug-in and some batteries and some other stuff.
then we went to Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works. and i bought some stuff and then chilled at Erin's until i had to go to FHE. so i drove home and put my stuff away real fast and then went to FHE. Which was our bishop talking about his art career and how it is tied into the church and it was super impressive. sometimes i think i can art but then i see things like his and i'm like... not an art. but this is my latest attempt!:
It's not the most amazing but i think it's good. and yes.. it's the Doctor again. you know me... but i'm working on something that Emily Mensing photographed. and it's not the Doctor! i will hopefully be able to finish it soon.. but i can't promise anything.
anyway.. time to get ready for work!
Have a superfab day, all!

Some [good] News
So it has been some time, no? yes. it has. I'll just give you some low-down and we'll be on our way.
let's see... so last post was about that **** project... let's go from there.
Went on sushi date with Erchap. Super yum. We went to Happy Sumo. sooooo yumm. I had a sunomono roll (from the inside out: avocado, tuna (i'm pretty sure), wrapped in cucumber). Super delish. I guess i'm better at sushi than erin is because i ate all my roll and didn't gag and she ate most of her roll and gagged on mine and then i finished hers for her. so that's good. both were yummy. then we went to a magical candy and toy shop by happy sumo that i can't remember the name of and it was super amazin. then we chilled and did laundry at her place. chill.
the next day, i did some stuff and went on a date with my wardie Marcus. it was cool. we went to Noodles and Company and it was yummy and he said he doesn't think anyone judges me by my age. which is nice but i sometimes think they do. a lot. but whatever. and i went to work and school too but that was a bum and you don't want to know about that.
hmm.. oh, yeah. i went home for the weekend. I got home friday night and just chilled with the 'rents. then saturday i woke up at 5:30. and then got ready and went to high school. the bus left the high school at 6:45ish with all the debaters on it. I judged the HS debate squadrons in a tournament. it was interesting and cool. and sort of stressful. but cool. and i got paid for it. that's nice. it was just a long long day. but it was fine. and i'm real glad i'm not a high-schooler anymore. phew.
i got back on sunday and went straight to mormon food night. it was suuuper yummy. mega yum. then we went to ward prayer and chilled and then we hungout for a while and then i went home and my fren Jenny came over and stayed the night. we watched Tron and i did my homework. until 2:30. in the a.m. so basically i'm pooooped. and i've gotta read like 5 chapters of Omni's D. (omnivore's dilemma. but i like my nickname better.) for my writing class tomorrow. shoooot. don't want.
and i love pinterest. and we had fhe tonight and it was wweeeeeird. we played a game called "winkums" or something where you had to grab people after they were winked at. it was weird. but funny. and then we played "do you love your neighbors" which is hilarious. Do you love your neighbors? No, but i do love beards. (seriously one of my answers. lolz)
okay. this whole deal has been leading up to this. Member that time i went on my very very first date ever? I was 16 and he was 19? 3 days from his mission? well, it's been 2 years. And now he's back! and i talked to him and gave him my number and we're gonna do something in some weeks when i come back. i'm actually really excited. yay!
oh, and i got my first debit card. it has a pic of my silly kitty in a sink on it. i love it. some people think it's weird but i don't have a mate yet and i don't want a picture of me on it.. and anything else i love has copyrights all over it. so cat it is.
and i think that's all. Also, the Drums are really cool. here's a vid:
{Look! I can put a vid on now! not a loser!}

Why today started out as quite possibly the worst day of my life...
![]() |
you know what this is? a dam. a broken dam. that's like my morning. |
Here's how it went down: Woke up, showered and got ready and all was normal. Left on time, didn't know about the 3 different construction sites (2 of them being new) and was running late to class. Got there 3 minutes (ish) late and then a girl in my class said "is it you're groups' day to present?" "Who is even in your group?" and i was like **** **** **** **** **** **** in my head and out loud i'm like "fml." The girl who was in my group never gave me the power point and the boy never did anything because he broke his collarbone.
So the teacher comes in and says where's the group who's presenting today and i raise my hand nervously and he says come up. shooot. so i go up there, quickly text my group and tell them to get their little fannys over here, and go to the EPA website and look up acid rain for to use it as my power point because, as aforementioned, i don't have it. I explain acid rain as best i can and how we can make it better and all that and then i go into questions and my prof says to not give me easy questions or hard ones, but reasonable ones and i answer them best i can with my partial-knowledge of the subjects.
I finish and the prof tells them to rate me gently due to the fact i went in alone and he also brought up his power point and said he'd go over it more in class next time and give us a "take home party" he calls tests. Then he says he wants to see me after my 10 o' clock class.
I go to my french class, take a test i feel okay about, buy myself some peanut butter m&ms, and chat with my friends for a sec. then i go back to my prof and we talk about why none of my group was there and if it was my fault for poor planning and all that. He tells me to come up with my own in-depth power point and send it to him along with 10 test questions about acid rain that will be on the next "party".
at least he was nice about it and didn't come down too hard on me. I told him like 3 times that i'd rather be in another group and that my group wasn't going to come together no matter how many times i tried. I was still stuck in the same "group". and one of the worst parts of it is that only the guy in my group apologized and said with it that he was going to drop the class anyway be he hadn't told me. And the girl was at work. Who schedules a class at the same time they work!? idiot.
But at least tonight will be better. I'm going to a sushi date with Erin. yummm.
and i've gotta get to work on writing a paper for my lit class. at least i'm going home this weekend. i neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it. a mill.

Golden Slumbers
not a reference to death. It's a beatles song. Yes, i'll talk about halloween, but i also wanted to mention some funny sleep experiences i've had lately so this was perfectly applicable. yeah.
i've been having weird dreams a lot lately. I woke up this morning laughing. and i can't remember what i was laughing at. All i remember is Marcus my ward-mate telling me to listen to the song that the evil people were singing and hearing them try to find a rhyme for something and instead saying "lime" and then us cracking up and then i woke up laughing. too bad i can't remember what it was...
and then this afternoon i took a nap and i remember some of it.. i went to this place i can't remember the name of but the manager lady said these words "it's like social sex." and i'm like what? and then i pay and go in. they put a blindfold on you but it's a see-through, plastic bandanna and then you're lead into a room, put on the floor and told to go. then you scurry around and find someone and start talking to them. and apparently you're allowed to sit in somewhat compromising positions (not like hold your horses, cowboy. but more like you're sitting awful close, mister...) and just chat the whole time. but the whole time was like 2 minutes. it was just weird.
remember how halloween was, like, yesterday? oh, it was. hurrah! it seems like forever ago. probably because i took that nap at 2 today and it was solid. anyway. Halloween was good. A bunch of my ward-mates gathered and we went to the pizza pie cafe in provo, ate, and then went back to Marcus's to tell scary stories and then watch the Doctor Who episode Blink. very very good. all the people were kinda disappointed though that no one really died and it was all happy in the end. but that's okay. it's still good.
speaking of the Doctor, i just finished watching the series! I'm all caught up! yeah! And my friend Alex said she saw a Matt Smith walking around campus yesterday but i missed him!! And i'm so sad. But i'm fixed on the theory that it was the real Doctor and he had to visit the school because there is something alien-y going on and he had to save the day.
And my roommate got a date! Yay! I'm so happy for her! I hope this turns out well and everything is super great! Super awesome.
And i think that's all. now i'm going to go finish my response to Meat-glue. Oh, for your food-y English class? nope. my Environment class. Sheesh, i might as well just combine them into one and say good. stupid.
anyway.
à plus tard!

It all happened so fast...
foreal. i know i just posted like yesterday, but i feel this day needs a little more recognition.
So today:
I run late for class. My flatmate was in the shower and i needed to be. then i was sort of an idiot and drove past my turn. then i got to class (like 2 minutes late) and the teacher hadn't come in yet. we took a quiz, i talked to him about the state of my group project (no bueno) and then i went to french. normal. had a laugh. went home for lunch and some studying. back to school for Lit class. almost fell asleep... i've been so tired lately... eh. change, go to work. do some work stuff...
(here's the (first) good part) then get asked if i wanna "grab a bite sometime" from this guy in my lit class who has a goatee and likes punk rock and wears a newsies hat every day. so i give him my number and the rest of work is so... uuuughhh. so long and busy but boring. the norm, i spose.
Then i call mom and talk to the whole fam about it (minus abby. she was in the tub and when i called her back something happened and blah.) did my homework, watched tv, chatted with Erchap and planned a haircut trip with Matt B. and then i change and go to FHE. I chill and chat and watch some crazy exciting marshmallow wars rage. then we go to del taco. turns out my home teachers are hispanic and black and cook a meal for me. sah-wheat! at del taco we chill and bring up too many innuendos (seriously) and my wardie-with-a-beard says he likes Dr. Who. oh, my awesome. chat chat laugh laugh. come home, finish my homework, chat with flatmates, plan my envt group thing (finally.... sheesh) and then my new glasses from Zenni Optical come! wooooooo!
and i get a cool AP-i'm-awesome certificate deal. rad rad raaaad. and i go to bed, basically. well.. i will. awesommme. seriously rad day.
