On Decorating.

So, as you might know, Sean and I are in the process of getting a house. It's going to take a few months to mend our credit, find, and buy the house, but I've been really into getting ideas and inspiration for future spaces. We've toured at least one house that we'd be very interested in purchasing and, so far, that's the only one I've been able to think up lots of ideas for. Anyway, I thought up some great rules I will stick to while decorating.

6 Rules for Decorating a Home

1: Make it beautiful but functional. Or at least as functional as possible.
2: The perfect color can make or break a room.
3: With that being said... Match, but don't over match. Too much of one color can make a space drab.
4: Too many objects on a surface can make cleaning a pain and the table useless. Keep it simple and put together but add flair.
5: Personal taste is everything. Pinterest is NOT law.
6: A house IS NOT its paint color. A paint job is the easiest way to fix a space.

When Sean and I do buy a house, I will definitely take all the pictures of it and post them on here. I can't wait. We're hoping to move in March or April, but we'll see.

House

So Sean and I are seriously looking into buying a house. No wonder I've been lazy at posting on here in a while, eh? Buying a house is a big deal. It's so grown up. The house has 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, a huge backyard on a corner lot, a super nice kitchen... I'm pretty excited.

Of course, it is possible that we don't get it, like it is with houses. I am hoping for it, but I won't be devastated if we can't get it. I've come to the conclusion that everything happens for a reason. Also, I'm super ready to not hear banging and shouting coming from both sides of my apartment or being told to move my car because of whatever reason.

We'd save on gas because Sean would take the train for free, our house payment would only be a little less than double our rent (which we could potentially do if we refinanced Sean's car and used less gas and other things). [I can't tell if that's crying coming from next door, one of the girls in a sheet trying to scare someone, or a real ghost. All I can say for sure is that they continually drop heavy things and are obnoxious.]

I'm really excited for it all, but at the same time, it's nerve-wrecking. Are we going to be able to afford it, can we still live comfortably like we do, will we actually even get it? Any way, we'll find out. I'll keep you updated on it all, like I do.

love, Ellen

Resolutions...

NOT. I don't want to make resolutions because they last a month and then I'm back to scarfing donuts and watching tv too often. Instead, I'm just going to resolute to keep being myself.

I'm going to keep cleaning my house as often as I do.
I'm going to keep loving my husband and taking care of him as best I can.
I'm going to continue to work hard and do my best at my job.
I'm going to continue to eat food.
I'm going to write blogs.
I'm going to paint pictures.
I'm going to be happy with what happens and remember that everything happens for a reason.
I'm going to be smart with my decisions.
I'm going to play and watch baseball when I can.
I'm going to love my family.
I'm going to keep being happy with myself and my life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.
love, Ellen
