Day 18: Wisdom, Funny, Brothers

Okay, I know, I've been horrible at my own challenge lately... but starting a new job and having my mother-in-law here have been making things a little hard. But I'm not complaining because I'm so grateful I have a job now and got to see my beautiful mother-in-law for a while!

Back to business.

The best thing my mom told me when I was younger was that

"You marry who you date."

or

"You're an odd duck."

Haha. It's true though! When I was dating Sean, I was told this often and I kept it in mind. When Sean and I would argue or be upset, I would remember that and figure that everything would be okay when we got married because it was never something I would be upset about for very long. We hardly ever argue and people kept telling us we would. Not saying we don't but we just remember the more important things and move on. I love Sean.

She also told me I was an odd duck and I'm cool with that. I'm different and I know it and I'll work it.

Seriously, guys, this girl is cool.

I have a funny story. So Sean and his brothers, his brother's wife, and his mom and I went to Gilgal garden in SLC yesterday and it was so pretty and had delicious grapes and we had so much fun there and, at one point, we met another family whose sons were interested in our game of 'catch the grape in your mouth' and we had a ton of fun telling jokes and grape tossing.

This leads into what was supposed to be my yesterday post about my favorite joke.
I have a few:

What do you call a fake noodle?
- an imPASTA!

How do you throw a space party?
- you PLANET!

What does a fish say when it swims into a wall?
-DAM!

What do you call a jack-o-lantern bandaid?
-a PUMPKIN PATCH!

What do you call an alligator in a vest?
-an INVESTIGATOR!

and then this picture makes me laugh every time:

EVERY TIME!!!!

haha.

Okay, one last thing and I'll be on my way:
I'm sorry I missed telling you about the live-chat with the Scott brothers from Property Brothers via their twitters... Anyway... I'm horrible. BUT! Make sure you watch the finale next Sunday night!

love, Ellen

May 18: Childhood

I feel bad for posting this so late but it's been quite a day. Sean and I took a box of junk to the DI and then got a bunch of records for cheap and then ate breakfast at The Park Cafe in SLC. Seriously, guys. If you are ever in the mood for breakfast foods and you're in the SLC area, go there. Everything is so delicious and quick and it's worth the wait. It's just across the street from the Tracy Aviary so you can make a day of it. Then we went to Sean's brother Jeremiah and his girlfriend Kayla's house and ate tons of junk food and watched Star Wars and just hung out. So much fun.

Anyway... Today's topic is on a story from my childhood. How about the time I kicked my sister in the mouth and her teeth fell out.

One day, Abby and I were at our neighbor's house playing games. A common game we would play with these particular neighbors was gymnastics. We set aside an area to practice our hand-stands and marked it off with barbies. Everyone was supposed to stand behind the barbie while the person in front of them did a handstand.

I stood in line right in front of Abby and, eventually, it was my turn to hand-stand. I stepped forward and did the lunge and went for it. As my back foot went up, my heel whacked Abby right in the mouth. I came back down and turned around and noticed that Abby had stepped in front of the barbie (or so my innocent mind believed... as far as I know, I might not have been far enough past the barbie). With eyes welling up with tears, Abby put her hand up to her mouth and caught 2 baby-sized teeth as they fell out as a result of the kick. I grabbed Abby around her shoulders and walked her home where my mom could calm her down and teach her the wonders of the tooth fairy.

And that wasn't even the first time I had ever whacked Abby in the face... there was another time where I ran into her with a gate we would swing on and caused her to need to get her forehead glued.
Oh, my life as the older sibling. I'm sure other older siblings have similar experiences right? Probably. And here is my public apology to Abby: I am sorry for all the times I whacked you in the face.

aww... isn't she pretty? also, her birthday is at the end of this month!

Oh, boy...(s)

"Wanna hear my boy problems?" was another idea for this blog title.. but i went with this so yeah.
And i got my hair cut! it's pretty awesome. once i get a chance, i'll upload a pic and stuff. rad.
now to the boys!

k. I told you bout that guy with the asking for my number? so yeah. basically, after that, i got sick (like ill sick). so cool. and i'm just having trouble convincing myself to go on this one date with him. I will. but i don't want a relationship. at all. because i'm still trying to get the hang of college and stuff - trying to figure myself out as well. I don't wanna break the guy's heart, but i also don't want to break my own life. or something.. pretend that was inspirational or something. k rad.

also.. i have a crush on this guy from my English class. and (i'm not a creep, promise) i found out his last name from our class roster. what a lovely thing! and, basically, it's going no where. but that's okay! like i told my mom, crushes are better than broken hearts.

Luckily, i got to lay out all my boy problems on my mate who went to hair-cut with me. What a nice guy. and i've been able to get a lot of good advice from my boss and my co-workers and my mommy and Erchap. so that'll be good. I'm so lucky to have such nice and understanding people in my life!

Also, this is me sitting at home on a friday night. I'm watching an old fave - "AFV IS OOOONNNNNN" (something we used to say in my house a lot when i was a kid, with it being my fave show and all...) and i have some things to do tomorrow. like a "tranning meeting" (aka a training meeting - my boss doesn't know how to spell very well and we like to kid around) and an RS dinner and broadcast. And I think an old friend from home and I are going to do something. Yay! I think it'll be fun.

okay. that's enough for now.
love, Ellen.
